5 Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

There are so many cities, countries, and continents around the world, and all those options can make it quite difficult for anyone to decide where they should go for their next vacation.  However, out of all the extraordinary destinations, there are at least five that everyone should visit at least once.

Here are 5 places you should see once in your lifetime:

1. Petra, Jordan

Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

This unique ancient city can be found within the southern section of the country of Jordan and many people like yourself visit to learn about its history while hiking and exploring.  One of the first things that you should do when you arrive in this fascinating destination is venture into a nearby Bedouin tent and talk with those inside.  The Bedouin people are full of extraordinary stories about their ancestors and how they lived in this part of the world so very long ago.  Afterwards, feel free to take your newfound knowledge to wander through the Siq, see the Treasury, visit the Royal Tombs, and ride on a donkey to the monastery.

2. Whitehaven Beach, Australia

Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

Some of the whitest sand in the world can be found at Whitehaven Beach, which is on Whitsunday Island in Australia.  This sparkling seven-kilometer beach will allow you to enjoy views of the land and the water as you marvel at how clean and tranquil the entire area is.  As spectacular as the views are, you will prefer being out in the water as you swim, snorkel, or dive around the Great Barrier Reef.  There are at least three thousand different reef systems for you to discover, along with all the marine life that lives there, so plan on spending some time in the area.  And there’s always more to do in Australia!

3. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany

Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

Neuschwanstein Castle can be found within the village of Hohenschwangau, which is in Bavaria. The construction on the castle began in 1869 and King Ludwig II used it as his personal and private retreat until his death in 1886.  There are more than two hundred rooms inside the castle, but only fifteen of them are completely furnished.  In fact, you will not even see every single room during a tour, as your focus will be kept to the third and fourth floors, which is where the king spent most of his time.  This enchanting castle served as the starting point of the creation of Cinderella’s Castle at Disneyland and many other Disney films.  Due to its popularity with Disney fans and castle-lovers, it can get quite crowded at Neuschwanstein, especially during the months of May through October.  Therefore, it is recommended that you purchase your tickets online ahead of time and arrive as early in the day as possible.  And when you’re done with the castle, explore a bit more of Germany!

4. Honokohau Falls, Hawaii

Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

You will fall in love with this approximately eleven-hundred-foot waterfall on the island of Maui, or you will, once you get there via helicopter.  This two-tier waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery that will make you wonder what took you so long to discover it!  The first tier of the waterfall takes water down more than one hundred meters into what seems like a calm pool before gathering it up again so it can rush down to the second pool of water.  This is the paradise that you have always been looking and waiting for! And if your adventurous, visit a few more Hawaiian islands while on that side of the world.

5. Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

Places You Should See Once in Your Lifetime

This amazing national park has been growing in popularity since it became a UNESCO World Heritage site back in 1979 and while you will love all three hundred square kilometers, there are a few features that you will appreciate the most.  During your visit, you should take the time to discover all sixteen lakes, as well as the waterfalls that seamlessly connect them all.  There are eight different hiking trails within this park, which means that you can choose the ones that are perfect for you and the time that you have available.  Each one offers breathtaking views and wildlife sightings, so do not worry that you will miss something if you choose one over another.  And of course, there’s more to Croatia then just Lake Plitvice!
