1. Climb on Board the USS Alabama Battleship

This massive battleship can be found at the GulfQuest National Maritime Museum and you can find many other things to do there as well.  After you have walked through the battleship, we recommend that you take the time to see the fourteen airplanes, the tanks, and the artillery.  The USS Drum, which is a submarine, is also at this museum, and if you have never been inside one before, it is definitely a must-see!

2. Walk Along the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail

One of the best things to do in Golf Shores is walking along the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail.  The fifteen miles of this trail is divided between seven different trails and they will allow you to venture through six different types of ecosystems.  We encourage you to take your camera with you and keep your eyes open, as you never know when an alligator, deer, or bobcat might make an appearance.

3. Take a Tour with Wild Native Tours

This tour group has tours of Oyster Bay, Bon Secour Bay, and the Bon Secour River available and they are all great ideas of Gulf Shore kids’ activities.  As you are sitting and relaxing on one of these tours, you can listen to the captain share local knowledge of the water, as you keep a watchful eye on the water for the dolphins that are hopefully swimming nearby.  You may also capture a glimpse of bald eagles, pelicans, and other birds as you are floating along.

4. Go Fishing on the Pier

Almost every child loves to go fishing, so take them to the second longest pier in the Gulf to catch a few.  Every child under the age of eleven will fish for free with a paid adult and you will all have the memories of the day to cherish forever.  While there is no bad time to wander down this pier, most people prefer to get there before sunrise, as the views of the rising sun is magnificent.

There are so many things to do in Gulf Shores with kids, but the above four options are the favorites amongst us and past visitors.  You will never find that your children are bored when you are in this area of the country, which means that you can have a successful vacation when you are there! Enjoy the Gulf Shores Alabama.
