How many places in your travel bucket list have you visited? If you need assistance in searching and booking for flights, here are the top 10 flight booking sites and why we like them:
1. Booking.com
Booking.com is number one on our list. Aside from booking accommodations, this is also the best website to book for your flights. Booking.com will help you find the lowest prices for flights both locally and internationally. The website is user-friendly and pretty easy to navigate. First, you have to select your trip type whether it’s round trip, one way, or multi-city. Once that’s done, enter your departure and arrival cities, dates, number of travelers, flight class type (economy, business, first class, etc.), and click search. Booking.com has different filter options which save you time to narrow down the results. You can filter flights by airlines, airport choice, number of layovers, and flight schedules. Book your flights here.
2. Kayak
Usually marketed as KAYAK, Kayak.com is a fare aggregator and travel meta search engine currently operated by Booking Holdings. What we like about Kayak.com is its flex search feature where it can search up to three days on either side of your departure and arrival dates, so you have more visibility to the flight prices. It also lets you filter factors such as landing time, stop cities, alliances, and aircraft type. Kayak.com is best for searching the lowest prices, especially for transatlantic flights. Planning a trip to see the northern lights soon? Search for your flights here.
3. Hipmunk
Hipmunk is number three on our top 10 best flight booking sites. There are a lot of reasons why we like Hipmunk. First, its website is organized and nice to look at. It is easy to navigate even if it’s your first time using a flight booking site. Aside from giving you the best results for flights, airlines, and schedules, it is also the best website to use if you are particular with the amenities. Hipmunk will also tell you if each flight has amenities such as WiFi, power outlets, meals available, in-flight entertainment, and advance seat options which is ideal for long-haul flights. These basic amenities are necessary especially if you like to do some work on your laptop during the trip. Start searching for flights that work for you here.
4. Google.com/flights
Google flights will assist you in purchasing of airline tickets through third-party suppliers. Google flights is fairly new since this was launched in September 2011 right after Google bought IATA software. This is the recommended flight booking site if you want fast search results although it may not necessarily give you the lowest prices. If you are searching for flights and still waiting for the lowest ones to be published, Google flights can send you emails for tracking prices to your Gmail account. Unfortunately, Google Flights is not yet available in some countries. You can search for your flight options here.
5. Skyscanner
Skyscanner is also a travel fare aggregator website and a travel metasearch engine which is owned by Ctrip. What we like about this website is it also allows you to book your hotel and car rental together with your flight. You can also filter or expand your searches by clicking on the “add nearby airports” or “non-stop flights only” options. If you don’t know where to go yet, Skyscanner also provides recommendations based on your recent searches. If they are running current deals for that month, you can also see that on the website. 6. Momondo
Momondo is another top favorite amongst frequent flyers. Momondo is great to use especially for booking multi-city flights. Their mobile app is also great and easy to use. When searching for flights, the top results would show you the necessary details such as cheapest, quickest, and the best options. It also provides a fare calendar graph that shows the average prices for a week before you selected and two weeks after your selected flights. This way, you can check if choosing a flight on other dates will cost you less which is quite helpful if you are trying to save money or traveling with a big group. You also turn on the price alert option to track the prices of a specific flight or route and Momondo will send you notifications through email. Momondo is user-friendly and available in major languages such as English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese to name a few. You can start tracking your flight prices on their website.
7. Hotwire
What we like about Hotwire is that aside from flights, you can also book hotel accommodations, car rentals, and vacation packages on their website. This was founded in 2000 and is currently headquartered in San Francisco, Ca. When searching for flights, you have the option to add other travel sites to your search such as Travelocity, Priceline, Orbitz, and Cheapflights so you can compare prices. If you know you don’t know the specific airport you are going to be departing from and arriving to; you might have to spend a little more time searching since Hotwire asks for the specific airport name instead of just the city. The good thing about the search results on this website is that they include baggage fees and offers a flexible date search. You can visit their website here and check out the best flight and hotel bundles.
8. Priceline
Priceline is among our top flight booking sites for this year that is also owned by Booking Holdings. It was founded in1997 and went online in 1998 which makes it one of the oldest travel booking websites in the world. Priceline is best known for its express deals which is an opaque fare in which you get to select airports and travel dates, but have no control with flight times, airlines, or stopovers. This might not sound good to some travelers, but Priceline usually gives the cheapest flights this way. If you need to book last minute flights, Priceline has also been proven to provide the cheapest ones. Need to book a last-minute flight? Check out Priceline’s website here.

10. SeatGuru
We like SeatGuru.com because its website features aircraft seat maps and seat reviews which is essential for long duration flights or when you are traveling with small children. This website also provides specific information about in-flight amenities and policies for unaccompanied minors or traveling with infants or pets. Its landing page has a seat map and shop flights tab. The seat maps tab will let you input the name of the airline, the date of the flight, and the flight number so you can check the aircraft’s seat map. This helps you plan especially if your number one priority in a flight is comfort. Information such as legroom, seat pitch, outlets, and WiFi will also show up in the search results. The website also shows you the top popular airlines and on-going flight deals. You can also sign up for their newsletter for free to get alerts for flight deals and other promotions.
